How our data works →How does ScanRecalls check a product?+
Scan the barcode on a food or household product, or enter its digits. ScanRecalls compares the product with indexed official recall records. Some notices also require a lot, batch, date or other identifier, which you must compare with the original notice.
Can I watch a product for future recalls?+
Yes. Save a supported food or consumer product in the app and enable notifications. ScanRecalls monitors its barcode for future matching recalls and can notify you when a new or updated notice may affect it.
How does Family Mode work?+
Family Mode connects up to 6 people, including the owner, to one shared product list. Everyone can view and add products. The owner invites members through a link and manages access. Members can receive matching recall notifications on their own devices when notifications are enabled. Connect a Google or Apple account, then open Family access in the app.
Which countries are covered?+
ScanRecalls organizes recall information for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Coverage varies by source and category. Choose the country where your product was sold and review our data sources for limitations.
Does scanning automatically save my product?+
No. A scan checks the product without automatically adding it to your watchlist. Product information is saved for ongoing monitoring only when you choose Start Monitoring.
Does no matching recall mean my product is safe?+
No. Notices may omit barcodes, require additional identifiers, arrive late or be missing from our index. Always compare all affected details in the original official notice and follow its instructions.
